Christmas Valley, South Lake Tahoe CA
When traveling along Highway 89 from Meyers to Hope Valley, you come into the Christmas Valley area. There are three parts to Christmas Valley which are known as Christmas Valley one and two. The US Forest Service cabins make up the third part. Christmas Valley is in a stunning location where the majority of the homes have views of the surrounding mountains and peeks at Mt Tallac. The valley also offers a flat landscape for most of the homes which can be somewhat rare in this mountain town. The Truckee River runs through the valley which offers many benefits such as canoeing, swimming and fishing. Highway 89 takes you out to Hope Valley and other popular outdoor areas such as Blue Lake, Caples Lake and Kirkwood ski resort. This wide open country offers tons of hiking, biking, snowmobiling, cross country and down hill skiing.
The homes in Christmas Valley vary from the US Forest Service cabins to more larger, modern construction. There is typically something for everyone whether it be price, size or age. The average home is around 1600 sq feet and the lot sizes tend to be larger then those in other areas of South Lake Tahoe. There is a mixture of full time and part time residences who really love the unique beauty this valley offers and how it is set away from the downtown area of South Lake Tahoe. There is still an easy access to the local Environmental Science Magnet School, market, gas and post office. On a clear day, the drive to South Lake Tahoe’s the “Y” is a quick 10 minutes, Heavenly and Sierra at Tahoe ski resorts are about a 15 minutes drive.
